Technology for complexity that matters

Building software for human and engineered systems.

Medium Number Systems creates thoughtful digital products for the places where people, processes, machines, information, and decisions interact.

Why “Medium Number”?

Not too simple. Not merely statistical.

Some systems are small enough to understand piece by piece. Others are so large that statistics become the primary tool.

In between are medium number systems: complex environments where interactions, context, adaptation, and human judgment matter.

That is the territory we are interested in. We build software that helps people work with that complexity rather than hiding it.

What we build

Three areas. One purpose.

Different domains, guided by the same goal: help people thrive and systems work better together.

01

Human Connection

Tools that help people learn and practice communication, compassion, collaboration, and connection.

02

Engineering Systems

Software for commissioning, operations, semiconductor manufacturing, industrial workflows, and complex technical projects.

03

Applied AI

Practical AI applications that augment human judgment, strengthen workflows, and make complex information easier to use.

Our first product

Compassion Practice

The first sentence you reach for is rarely the one you mean.

We build Compassion Practice — an app for finding the second sentence, the one that says what is actually going on, before the first one does damage you have to clean up later.

Reading about compassionate communication is easy. Reaching for it while your jaw is tight is not. The app is built for the second problem: small, repeatable reps you can do in four minutes, so the words are there when you need them.

What usually comes out

“You never listen to me.”

Observation

Feeling

Need

Request

What I might actually mean

Same moment, same person, same frustration — sorted into what happened, how it landed, what was missing, and what could actually be asked for. That sorting is the practice, and it is learnable.

Practice cards

Short decks across the core moves — separating observation from judgment, naming feelings precisely, finding the need underneath, and making a request someone can genuinely say yes or no to.

A coach that reads your wording

Paste in the sentence you were about to send. It flags hidden evaluation, a demand dressed up as a request, or the place where “you always” crept in — and offers what you might have meant instead.

Quizzes and progress

Timed rounds to sharpen recognition, plus a record of what you have practiced and what keeps tripping you up. Progress you can see, without streak guilt.

Made with practitioners

The material comes from people who facilitate this work in rooms with real conflict in them, not from a content team paraphrasing a book.

What we believe

Four commitments we are holding ourselves to.

Practice over theory

Nobody changes how they speak by understanding a framework. They change by rehearsing, badly, many times, somewhere it is safe to be bad at it.

No shame in the product

The app will never tell you that you communicated wrongly. It will show you what a sentence is likely to do, and let you decide.

Reachable pricing, on purpose

This work spreads through communities that do not have large budgets. Sliding scale belongs in the product, not behind a special request.

Your hardest conversations stay yours

What you type in is not training data and not a growth channel. Take it all with you, or delete all of it, without asking anyone.

Our approach

Technology should increase human capability.

Human-centered

Start with the people who live inside the system.

Systems-aware

Design for relationships, feedback loops, constraints, and consequences.

AI with purpose

Use AI where it creates real leverage, not simply because it is available.

Built to evolve

Expect requirements, environments, and understanding to change.

Medium Number Systems Inc. Founded in Texas · 2026

We build at the intersection of human systems, engineered systems, and applied artificial intelligence.

About the company

Engineering and compassion are not opposites.

Medium Number Systems was founded by a software engineer with more than three decades of experience building complex enterprise systems across finance, energy, manufacturing, logistics, and industrial automation — alongside community work centered on compassion, dialogue, and human connection.

We believe the most important software problems are neither purely mechanical nor purely statistical. They exist where people, information, machines, and judgment interact.

Our roadmap

Where things stand

Pre-launch, and not pretending otherwise.

No fake countdown and no waitlist that goes nowhere. If you want to hear when Compassion Practice opens — or you facilitate this work and want an early look — write to us and a person will write back.
